Sentinel

Another strange looking aircraft at Prestwick today. This one didn’t land though, came in on a perfect approach and then powered up and sped away again.

Looked it up tonight and found that it is an RAF Bombardier BD-700 Sentinel R1.

At first I thought it was foreign with the tail graphic but apparently it was a special design to celebrate the 100th anniversary of 5 squadron.

The funny pods on the aircraft contain equipment from Raytheon which turn this Bombardier Global Express into an airborne battlefield and ground surveillance aircraft.
