Brief lives
I am privileged to be assisting with the publication of a booklet about where I work and the impact of the Great War. "Great Ideals: Leighton Park and the Great War " delves into the stunning Archives, to transform the names on the War Memorial into students just like today. Proofreading today, I have had a lump in my throat.
As a Quaker School, how would we respond in such a situation? Fight or some other valuable war service? How about the Conscientious Objectors? Details from their trials are preserved .
I adore these old photos with their hidden messages through time. Particularly as a number of these fine, bright young men would be killed within a few years.
