Tsunami Museum
After another morning spent in the hotel pool again today, we decided it was time to venture out today.
Granny, Hubbie, Ethan, Mr Foreveryoung and I got a taxi along to another part of Khao Lak where the International Tsunami Museum is situated. It's very small but I think is still a work in progress by the locals.
There is a market nearby which we wandered past, selling lots of weird and wonderful edibles such as fried insects and bugs. Funnily enough, none of us fancied trying them!
Not far away is a Police Patrol boat which was carried 2km inland by the tsunami waves and has never been moved from its final resting spot. Nearly ten years after the disaster, it's surreal to stand there with images in your head of what actually happened. So incredibly sad but of course good to see the area rebuilt and tourists like us coming back again.
I have been trying to explain to Ethan what happened. He is interested but impossible for a 4 year old to really grasp it. He just asked if it was the goodies or baddies who died in the waves. If only life were that simple!
