The folly at Fyrish near Evanton, Ross-shire.

Arrived at the top of the hill at about 5:40am, in the hope of a good sunrise, half an hour or so later. Alas no. You don't want to know what time that meant getting up at. It was windy and cold up there. Though nothing like as cold as my previous visit. Was better covered up for those conditions, with just my hands suffering whilst altering the camera settings.

Have a couple of days of forced leave this week. We were given two extra days near Easter about eight to ten years ago, in lieu of a decent pay rise. They said they may buy them back from us in the future. Can't see that ever happening. The daft thing was that I arrived back home, and despite having been out for hours, could have made to work on time, had I needed to.

Felt cold all day after being up that hill for a good hour and a half. The amount of litter in the heather below the folly was most disheartening. Red Grouse were displaying, and yacking away. A few Meadow Pipits there too. Not much else, until gaining some cover in the lower lying coniferous woodland.

Did some weeding in the garden this afternoon.
