Camera Man

Among the many duties I have at work, one of them is to coordinate media relations. I definitely consider it a win when I can get a t.v. station interested enough to send out someone to cover the story.

On this particular day, I got two (KUSI and Channel 8). But instead of sending a reporter and a camera man, they sent a video correspondent - a guy that not only holds the camera and records but mans the microphone and interviews the subject too! Talk about multitasking! When the segment airs, the anchor or another reporter does a voice over explaining what is happening - all from the comfort of the newsroom.

It's obviously cheaper to send out a video correspondent and we're definitely seeing more of these as stations are cutting down on budgets. . .
