Creston
A little town with
the Purcell Mountains as a
backdrop - BEAUTIFUL!

We are here in the small town of Creston, British Columbia to visit a dear friend of many years. In January, Lynn returned home following eye surgery and shortly thereafter took a fall in her home causing a cracked vertebrae in her neck and a brain bleed. She was moved to hospital far from her town and it was weeks before she was able to return to the hospital here in Creston. Thankfully, she is recovering. It was a great relief to see her today and understand that she is well in her mind but will need some more time to heal her physical injuries.
While here, we fondly revisited the area, reminding ourselves of the places we'd been and what we did while visiting Lynn and her family. We have spent many summer days here. We have parked our trailer in their backyard. We witnessed the birthing of lambs in spring. We've applauded musical performances. We've shared a pew on Sunday mornings.
Creston is a town with a population of about 5500 people. It is a friendly, supportive place to live. The economy of the area is largely based on agriculture and forestry. Driving through the town into the countryside, one sees fruit stands, orchards and wide expanses of farmland stretched over rolling hills.
I got a shot of the two grain elevators that still stand along the railway tracks at the edge of town. These are what one usually sees on the Canadian prairies. Here, in this valley, grain crops have been very important too. These two have become almost a trademark for Creston.
We spent time visiting with Lynn in the extended health care unit. Today, her husband performed with his country music group at "Happy Hour" in the care unit. The residents filed into the activity room to listen and enjoy the music while staff served them refreshments.
