Autumn Apples!

I made a quick trip back to Loganbrae Apple Orchard this morning and this time there were apples galore for sale. When I blipped Sam in his apple shed on the 19th of January they were still on the trees and I was told I had to wait just a little longer.

I was greeted by an apple shed full of wonderful produce when I walked in today and a lot of people to boot. The first apple trees were planted in 1919 and the orchard has become somewhat of an institution. Sam took over the orchard a short while ago and has his own wonderful vision of where he would like it to be in years to come.

Needless to say I walked out with a big bag of granny smith apples and a large jar of local honey. Looks like apple pie could be on the menu in the very near future.
I've just posted a scrumptious image on my Blipfolio of some Pink Ladies just ripe for the picking.

Shipley Plateau used to be one of the biggest apple growing areas in Australia in the early part of the 20th century until a fire in 1950 wiped out many of the orchards and many of the owners never replaced the trees. Lucky for us Loganbrae survived and we have a young energetic owner determined to keep it alive.
