Steep Down, Sompting

On the way home from Worthing, later this afternoon, we made a stop at the car park halfway along the lane to Steyning and I went for a short walk eastwards along a trackway that passes this prominent rounded hill on the South Downs. Steep Down is 149 metres high and is in the very north of the parish of Sompting. There is a stiff climb up to the top as there is a footpath up there, with some of the land being access land. Most of that is is the part wooded and scrubby area that can be seen in the picture.

In the morning I collected my car from the garage. It has been fully serviced, but the brakes need to be done and a part is on order to do this. Ever since I had it, there has been an issue with oil, and I asked them to take a look at this while it was serviced. Needless to say, it will be going back again, as they confirmed it does have an oil leak but they do not know where it is. As the engine is so messy due to the leak, it needs to be steam cleaned and then they will be looking at it and sort it all out. I have been told it is safe to drive, but to keep an eye open on the oil. It will be going in again immediately after Easter and then hopefully it will be sorted out. I have now learned a lot about my car from the mechanics at the garage and which is a Perodua Kelisa EZI, which, rather like me, is certainly quirky!!
