Upnor
Wouldn't this make the most perfect reading room? It overlooks the Medway and is opposite the entrance to Upnor castle. On the opposite side of the river is Dickens' World and the Royal Dockyard at Chatham. Upnor castle wasn't built to keep the French out - which makes a refreshing change in this neck of the woods - but to keep the Dutch out. It failed to do that in 1667 when they sailed up the river and got in amongst the fleet at anchor off Chatham.
Upnor itself is a tiny place with little traffic but some lovely views and general twinkiness. Very nice for a gentle stroll with a camera.
