DUNDEE

This ia picture of Dundee taken from Broughty Ferry. Broughty Ferry or (Brochtie in Scots) is a suburb on the eastern edge of the City of Dundee, situated on the shore of the Firth of Tay in eastern Scotland. "The Ferry" was formerly an independent burgh from 1864 until it was absorbed into the Royal burgh of Dundee in 1913.

As you can see Dundee is built around the Law Hill. Taking its name from an old Scots word for a hill, Dundee Law, or Law Hill, is a conical mass of volcanic basalt forming the highest point in the city of Dundee. It rises to a height of 174m (571 feet). An Iron Age hill fort once occupied the site on which now stands a memorial to the dead of World War I erected in 1923. The Beacon of the memorial is lit on four occasions each year: 25th September, in memory of the Battle of Loos where many local men serving in the Black Watch lost their lives; 24th October, for United Nations Day; Remembrance Sunday; and 11th November, Armistice Day.

Anyway, just liked the picture (would have looked better with the sun shining down on it, but don't think that will happen here this summer), and thought I would educate you all, about where I live...
