Mystery solved

We couldn't figure out who has been working on the log attached to the squirrel bungie, as the squirrels have never been bothered (my own fault really - why would I think they would work so hard to entertain me when they can simply go to the bird feeder buffet). I'm happy that the woodpeckers are enjoying it, and so is Shlomo who has been eating all of the corn that they leave behind. Sometimes he just stands under it and looks up, waiting for food to start falling off. He probably can't believe his luck - he's been trying to work out how to get to it since we hung it up. All he had to do was wait.
