Up close with the new camera.....

I have been experimenting with my new Canon DSLR on and off all day, and my feelings about same are also on and off.

I am determined not to use Auto functions, and so have persevered with Aperture values, and shutter priorities etc.etc. all day I have sat on the banking of the croft opposite the house, experimenting with landscape and depth of field.

Dimairt, of course, thought that I was sitting on the ground so that I could be nearer the stick that he kept bringing back. So, each experiment was punctuated by stick being thrown.

At one time, I wasn't quick enough for him, and he came and licked the lens - deep joy. Screaming owner rushes back to house for cleaning solution.

I returned to the bank, and tried some close-ups with Dimairt himself, and got this shot. I cropped the top of the shot to 'balance' it, and couldn't seem to get the original back; so, I'm stuck with it.

Anyway, not at all what I have been practising all day, but despite the gook in the eye, not a bad shot of the wee one.
