Journey Through Time

McMenamins Grape Vineyard

At Edgefield Manor, which used to be the county Poor Farm, the McMenamin brothers have taken this wonderful old property and totally re-purposed it as a lodge, a spa, gardens, vineyard, a brewery, a pub serving casual fare, a nice restaurant for more special occasions, and for a few arts and crafts, such as glass blowing. They have a large ballroom for special events and an outdoor area for concerts. They have this property, one of their first ones, plus many, many more in Oregon. I have blipped this one and a few more over the course of my Blipfoto career. Auntie took me there for lunch today and it was very good. We enjoyed looking around a bit, although she isn't fond of the Manor house/lodge place as she thinks it's creepy. It's a fun place to go in and look at their outstanding art work that decorates everything. You can see a few pictures of some of the grounds, including an old house that is used as a Bed and Breakfast kind of place, and some shots of the Power Station where we had lunch.....inside and outside. This was actually the last picture I took as we were leaving. Joan said, "take that shot" and it is the one I like the best. The runner up is the top of the Manor above the flowering trees.

I give the McMenamin brothers a lot of credit as they have built a pub empire and the properties are always eclectic and interesting. The food and beer is pretty good too. Oh, and they have a lovely red wine, called Black Rabbit Red. A black rabbit is one of their trademark images.

That's it for today. See ya later
