EYAM, Derbyshire: Plague Village

A brief visit today to the famous Derbyshire village of Eyam.

When Bubonic Plague infested fleas were accidentally imported in a roll of cloth, the villagers of Eyam isolated themselves from the neighbouring villages.
In doing so, they undoubtedly prevented the spread of the disease.

However, the Plague claimed approximately 270 lives from a village of only 350 inhabitants.
