V is for Veryan
Jules & myself have finally got a day off together YAY!! (Well, I say day off, he worked 5.30am - 10am). So to celebrate having some much scarce time off together we decided to cross off another letter on our A - Z Tour of Cornwall.
Today we did 'V' for Veryan. For those of you who know nothing about Veryan (like me!) it is a small village on the Roseland Penisular. The village is best known for it's 5 roundhouses built in the 19th centuary which have thatched roofs with a cross on top (see picture). They were said to be built round so that there was no corner for the devil to hide around. There are 2 of them at either end of the village plus one in the center (but we didn't find the middle one!)
We started the day off with a lovely sunday morning stroll on Pendower Beach. After some fresh air we decided that a trip to the local pub was in order. As neither of us had had breakfast, we were starving by this point so headed to The New Inn to sample thier lunchtime menu. Jules had a very nice fish pie and I sampled the Sunday roast. Rather yummy!!
After filling our tummies, we headed back to Truro to do a bit of shopping before heading home to spend the evening together.
