The Four Bars

Franco pulled down the original four pillars put up for the 1929 World Exhibition at Montjuic, Barcelona because they were a symbol of Catalonia and thus a clear 'no-no' during his murderously repressive dictatorship. These replacements were erected a year or so ago as an 'act of historic justice'...just in time for the separatist debate/vote!

A nice Palm Sunday here in Barcelona where many people go out with long palms for a walk and lunch. There used to be great open air mass blessings of the palms but that has largely died out, although the South American immigrants are revitalising the whole tradition.

We had lunch at the port before heading to see the magic fountains which weren't on this evening.
