Marathon #5
Big day. Chris ram his fifth London Marathon. He had his toughest race ever, thinking several times that he might have to pull out due to recurring cramp.
He still got a PB of 3.53 though. But he was really stiff afterwards and had to walk downstairs backwards.
Betsy and Al and I went to Waterloo with some friends, met my brother and Keith there so there were ten of us in Narrow street. While we were on the train our friends Nibs and Nick texted to say they'd seen him at Woolwich where they always go to cheer him. At Narrow St we saw Chris looking good, then crossed to Commercial Road. Saw him again, bit of a different expression on everyone's faces there! Still great to see him but I could tell it was hard, but I thought it was the heat.
We headed for Horseguards Parade, quite an easy journey. Chris arrived at the same time, plus his two sisters who always cheer him along the route too.
Quite a slow journey home but made it eventually. We had pillows and blankets in the sofa plus the children had made him cards. He collapsed. We ordered a huge curry for dinner.
Quote of the Day; on the tube home I heard a man say sadly to his wife, 'I got overtaken by a man carrying a giant boob'.
