Wood Duck

I am stepping away from the Shakespeare challenge for today to bring you this male Wood duck.

With the Shakespeare challenge word being gnarled, we went out looking for the muscovy duck that I have photographed before. I was hoping to get a good photo of his gnarled head. Unfortunately he was not around today.

Thankfully the weather was absolutely perfect for sitting on the river bank ...... the thermometer in my car read 81 degrees F. We spent some time there waiting for the wood ducks to swim close enough. My persistence paid off.

And although this isn't gnarled it is wood of a different sort! Does that count?
