A Tale of Two Trees..

These are images of two sycamore trees in the backyard. They are the same age and were planted at the same time, even with each other and approximately 30 feet apart from trunk to trunk. One is a little taller than the other. Being Sycamores, they are of course deciduous, which is rare in my part of the world. I have the joy of watching them go from full massive green leaves, to red and yellow, and then stripped bare. Now, as the leaves start to appear, I've noticed something interesting. . The one that looks the most bare was the one that first showed spring leaves.
Practically overnight the other one exploded in little green leaves all over. The one to show leaves first seems to be pushing out big ones but not nearly as many.
Same species...same soil...same age...same amount of rain and sunshine...but for reasons unknown, beyond everything that makes sense on the surface, the process happens in it's own way for each tree.

" It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...."
Charles Dickens
