Sunshine of My Life
There was real sunshine today, but this fellow's smile is my sunshine all year round!
We had downtown Bellingham almost to ourselves this afternoon, where we began our afternoon date with the purchase of some truffles at Chocolate Necessities. Two doors down, at the Limelight Cinema, we gathered our beverages of choice (a glass of pinot gris for me, a bottle of craft beer for Phil) and a small order of popcorn (with real butter!), and then settled into our comfortable seats to enjoy The Lunchbox. It's a gently captivating film, set in India, in which home-cooked food and the written word play major roles.
Our final stop was The Temple Bar, one of our favorite eateries in town, where happy hour prices are in effect all day on Sunday and the mood is mellow. Another beer for Phil, a glass of bubbly for me, and an appetizer of house-cured wild salmon and accompaniments to start were followed by my choice of creamy polenta topped with roasted broccoli and smoked cheddar, and Phil's "PNW Baguette," which held a generous serving of roasted pork belly, nettle pesto, mesclun, and gruyere. We shared a slice of delicious locally-crafted blueberry lavender pie, and were amazed that all this delicious food was ours for $39 (approximately 28 Euros, 23 GBP)!
There was a bit of "dueling cameras" action in between courses, and both our blips reflect that. We may be elders, but we still know how to have fun!
