Day 1 -Tokyo
Well here we are ... In VERY big Tokyo. This place is huge and soooo clean. The weather forecast for today was cloudy but it turned out to be a lovely sunny day. So grateful.
We were picked up at the airport in a hotel car, which we weren't expecting, so that was a lovely surprise. And welcomed very warmly by the GM and DOF. Wow, these people sure know how to impress. Then showed to our spacious room with this fabulous view of the Imperial Palace and the gardens. Tomorrow we shall walk around it.
Had a quick freshen up and headed down to the lobby for afternoon tea - of course! It was scrumptious with cherry blossom scones even.
Then a walk around the area of the Peninsula and the gazillion restaurants around. There are sooooo many restaurants here. I'm shocked. But then there are 12 million people and they've all gotta eat somewhere. I loved walking around and taking it all in. Spotted a Hello Kitty shop that had a totally blinged out electric guitar (yes I got a pic) and right beside that shop they had a flower shop with Hello Kitty flowers. I couldn't believe it. Too weird.
We headed out to Shinjuku to the Park Hyatt for dinner with the GM who is an old colleague of Martin's when he worked in London. The restaurant we were at was on the 43rd floor offering panoramic views of Tokyo. It was a very lovely setting with excellent food and great company.
A great start to our Tokyo adventure. Very happy. And I appreciate everything the Pen has put on for us.
