Imperial April
On a hike through the southern part of the Kaiserstuhl area.
Kaiserstuhl means "emperor's seat". It is an extinct volcano in the Upper Rhine Valley, famous for its red wine and unique, almost mediterranean flora and fauna. As befitting the resting place of a monarch it is the warmest and sunniest part of Germany. That is why I wasn't very surprised when I found myself in the middle of a warm summer day even though it is only April.
