The Garden Inspector

This supercilious Herring Gull is apparently inspecting the work in our garden and next door's (who have the magnificent red rhododendron almost fully out). Helen and I were scarifying the lawn, putting organic material from the compost bin into the ground, and planting our own latest rhododendron.

PS: Having written 'supercilious' I looked up some words I might have used, which would be appropriate for a Herring Gull looking down his bill at me, and came up with: arrogant, haughty, conceited, disdainful, overbearing, pompous, condescending, superior, patronizing, imperious, proud, lofty, lordly. Extending my vocabulary — I now know what to shout when I am trying to photograph the gulls at Fowlsheugh in a couple of months…
