magnolia

i'm not a flower expert but i believe these are magnolias? came across these at our son's school while waiting for his "make a difference" project presentation. the flower relates to our son's project because he chose to research the American Beekeeping Federation (for those how may not know, honey bees have been dying off in alarming numbers in recent years and if the beekeepers and scientists don't find a remedy soon, the fruit and vegetable harvests will be in jeopardy) ... i know i'm biased here, but he did a great job in both researching and presenting his findings. very proud of him :)
