Oops!
A bit of excitement today, looking from the balcony. I spotted an overturned boat. It hadn’t happened very long ago as the helping boats had not arrived on the scene yet. Within a few minutes a coastguard boat arrived, a police boat, a tug, a fishing boat and several civilian boats too. After picking up the two stranded people, they formed a ring and watched the boat slowly sink.
No attempt was made to rescue the boat, which to me seemed a reasonable proposition, especially with a small tug in attendance. The boat had come to grief in one of the world’s busiest shipping channels, being the main shipping route into Hong Kong harbour.
In 54 minutes, the boat was gone, as shown in the composite image above.
