Rijks

We were all in need of a bit of a lay-in and managed to sleep until 8am despite the noise of bikes and people throughout the night outside the window. After breakfast we walked down to the newly reopened Rijksmuseum. As it had been closed for a decade, I was expecting a bit more from the interior. There is no denying though that it's very grand, and it's huge; we only did about half of it before we stopped seeing the art and decided to call it a day. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we played around on the 'I Amsterdam' sign before walking back up to Café Winkle; the home of the best apple strudel in Amsterdam. It was lovely sitting in the sunshine and watching the world go by. After lunch we took a canal tour and checked out the Tulip Museum. After a hotel pit-stop, we ventured across to the furthest canal for dinner, and had yet another delicious meal, before going round the corner to a brilliant bar- it had over 50 Dutch beers on tap, and that's not to mention the hundreds of bottles. G was in his element!
