Lochs & Whisky

It's safe to say I woke up this morning still a little bit drunk. Fortunately I still managed to make it to the tour bus on time, and felt much more human once I visited a bakery at our first stop!

We travelled over the Forth Road Bridge past Perth to Dunkeld and the Hermitage in Macbeth’s Birnam Wood for a forest walk amongst waterfalls and the tallest trees in the country (not as tall as ours!). We then journeyed north for lunch at Pitlochry before travelling to see the Queen’s View on Loch Tumme (Loch is the Scot word for Lake).

Then, with possibly the worst possible timing (just before we got to the Whisky Distillery tour & tasting), disaster struck - my hangover kicked in! Serves me right I guess! Oh well, I sucked it up and actually really enjoyed the tour. Maybe not so much the tasting but the tour was really interesting. I also enjoyed the Dewar's Whisky motto 'Live True'- it seemed appropriate considering my current circumstances!

Whisky is Scotland's #1 export and contributes more that 4 billion pounds to the UK economy! Not surprising that some think that the UK has more to lose than Scotland does if they separate from them and become a Republic (a referendum is being held in September this year).

All in all a great day! I was exhausted and headachey by the end of it though so it was an early night for me!
