It's a Long Way Down to the Pit

"The Pit", in the new wing of Broadcasting House, is the largest and busiest live newsroom in the world. The journalists, producers and technicians working there cover news stories for BBC Radio, World Service and Television.

This is the view of it I had this lunchtime while waiting in a 7th floor glass lift lobby. It shows just a tiny part of the newsroom floor, at the bottom of one of two enormous atriums.
