Byrhtnoth
We had a fairly good run down to Essex late last night (despite a small diversion to Newmarket).
Woke up feeling not too bad and emerged blinking into the bright morning sunshine. So inspired was I that I went for a jog for the first time in a few months and was happy with getting round just under two miles with relative ease....until a few hours later when my knee appeared to have given up the ghost.
It didn't spoil our walk along the promenade at Maldon as the sun continued to shine and turned my magnificent bald dome into a burning red beacon of hope.
At the end of the promenade we happened upon this fellow, the spell check challenging named; Byrhtnoth. From what the good people at Wikipedia tell us, he was a brave fellow and died a hero's death.
A fine first day "darn sarf"!
