Old Steps
I love this space in the Castle Grounds. Close to the castle itself, this is a sheltered space, a sort of sunken garden, that once must have been an elegant haven for the visitors and residents to the Lews Castle. Long since left to rabbits and rhododendrons, all that is left is a curious little monument, an enormous monkey puzzle tree and these old steps. But the minds eye captures elegant ladies floating up and down this steps or stern business men discussing the price of soap or opium. Who knows what stories these steps have to hold. Today we are lucky the health and safety man hasn't had cause to use them for condemnation would be his only conclusion. But I like them the way they are.
