Water Cress Beds at Ewelme
I was out cycling today and what fantastic weather. It really lifts the spirits to be out in beautiful countryside on days like this.
This is not my best image of the day, but it is the best story.
Firstly Ewelme itself. This is a wonderful little village. So picturesque, in the Chiltern Hills. It has a lovely old church, ancient almhouses, medieval school, connections with Henry VIII, Chaucer and more.
It also has watercress beds which were planted in 1890, but ceased production in 1988. They are maintained now by volunteers, but they are not allowed to sell the cress due to EU Health & Safety regulations. http://www.chilternsociety.org.uk/ewelme/about.php
There is also a village store where you can get a pot of tea and some cake.
If you have the chance, visit. And, don't forget your camera.
