The Killing Tree
Arrived in Phnom Penh today and visited the the Choeung Ek Genocidal Centre.
Travelled by Tuk Tuk through some of the poorest areas I've ever seen to get there. Children playing at the side of the roads, many naked but all ready with a smile and a wave as we passed.
It's just been Kymer New Year and celebrations last three days but there were still groups of people on the country roads singing and dancing and really enjoying themselves.
Then we arrived at the Killing Fields.
No words can express the horrors that the Cambodian people had to endure at the hands of the Kymer Rouge.
Three million people were killed in three years.
This tree was where the soldiers killed the babies of the prisoners.
Friendship bracelets adorn it today.
