The Kelpies

Late blip as we spent the evening at the spectacular opening night of the Kelpies near Falkirk. A riot of colour, dance, sounds and smells in theHelix Park.

And then the magnificent statutes, subjected to a sound, light and fire show. They stand some 30 metres high, designed by Scottish designer Andy Scott. The light show was dramatic and spectacular- and at times gave the effect of the heads moving. Large crowds meant the we walked very slowly round the site- but all very good natured. But took so long that our son missed the last train to Glasgow so a long detour home- hence the late blip!

At times there were so many cameras around that the statues could have been lit by the screens. They are a welcome distraction when driving up the M9 at the best of times: what they must have been like tonight from the road can only be imagined!

So many potential blips. Hope this one gives a feel for the event.
