Draining Rock
This is a back blip from a few days away that we spend in Tenterfield, a few hours inland from here. It is a lovely country town situated high on the New England Ranges in northern NSW. It was great to get away and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside. The new 4x4 that we bought in December last year got a good test run and performed really well on some of the rugged roads we discovered. I had ducked into the TIF and collected some of their brochures on interesting local road trips and we tried out two of them. The first day trip (when this was taken) took about four hours with lots of stops for photo shoots and cuppa breaks. The whole area is known as the Granite Belt and the huge boulders, balancing rocks and massive formations are incredibly interesting. This one is called Draining Rock and is one of the largest exposed granite rocks in the area, second only to the famous Bald Rock.
