Torcello

Inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on Torcello, the first island settled in the Venice lagoon. Once home to 20,000, now just 30 people live there. It has a real "end of the line" feeling, all the more so since I visited it on a day trip from Trieste whose aim was to return Miss L to Burano.
