‘in a pickle’ (The Tempest)

The Tempest is a play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1610 and thought by many critics to be the last play that Shakespeare wrote alone.
It is set on a remote island, where Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion and skillful manipulation.
He conjures up a storm, the eponymous tempest, to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. There, his machinations bring about the revelation of Antonio's lowly nature, the redemption of the King, and the marriage of Miranda to Alonso's son, Ferdinand.

And Trinculo is reeling ripe: where should they
Find this grand liquor that hath gilded 'em?
How camest thou in this pickle?

We met up with family at Burns beach this afternoon for a beach BBQ, our family get together for Easter before they all head off for Easter break with their own families, we sat and watched the sun go down, it didn't disappoint, the wind picked up and the waves rolled in.

Not a boat or surfer to be seen, it was really rough out on the ocean they would surely have found themselves "in a pickle" had they been out there.

This is the scene just before the storm that Prospero conjured up in the
"The Tempest" ...
