Rocker?
No, a roller - the original roller in fact. Charles Stewart Rolls, of Rolls-Royce fame, commemorated in a statue in Agincourt Square, Monmouth.
The three K's out on the town tonight, for the Mayors Charity screening of "Gone With The Wind" at the Savoy in Monmouth, which I'm told is the oldest theatre in Wales. Needless to say the camera came too.
K2 managed admirably on her crutches, getting around the cobbled backstreets and navigating to the theatre without any real problem, which was quite amazing to see how ell she has adapted to getting around with a leg in plaster. Ah, the resilience of the human form.
We went for a meal before the showing, to make a special occasion of it as K2 is due to go to London on Sunday, ready for her interview Monday. I'd like to be able to give a plug to the place we went for dinner but it was disappointing so I couldn't recommend it.
Having said that the evening at the theatre was a real treat. I remember seeing the film when I was about 16, taking a girlfriend to the Olympia cinema in Old Cwmbran [known as the "Flea Pit"]. I didn't know just how long the film was and when we eventually returned home, her family were ready to call the police as she hadn't told them where we were going, or just how long we'd be. Seeing it again over 40 years on was a bit of a trip down memory lane, complete with intermission for ice-cream.
A lovely day out with the "girls".
