Day at Easdale

Today's visit to Easdale involved travelling on the road past the mountains on the Rest and Be Thankful, as it's called. The men working there are trying to stabilise the slope after all the rain this winter that caused major rock falls closing the road for months. There must be a plan to make the surface more stable, but it looks to me like man versus the mountain - an unequal struggle!

The main picture is the quarry at Easdale where slate was a major industry for years. Now it is a mecca for tourists who relish the peace and glorious natural world of the west coast of Scotland.
