A bonny day

On the shore of Scapa Flow with the Hoy Hills in the distance.

This bench is in memory of Mary Gunn who lived near to this spot, she survived until she was 96. She used to take her dog down to the shore at this point to look for rats. The bench is put out annually and taken in during the winter storms. However it is even anchored down in summer in case of a stiff breeze.

Plenty of warmth today and this means that for tea tonight we will have the first picking of asparagus from inside the poly tunnel. CMC is currently on light weed duties but she's going for her keyboard lesson at the Reel in Kirkwall this afternoon. I have the labourer's job of riddling all of the compost - and there's an endless supply of it. Then I swap over last year's compost into the other bin.

There's no time for bench sitting today.
