Kings and Pawns ...

Today we sheltered from the 40 degree heat in the cool interior and fountained courtyards of the Museum of Islamic Art .
The building was opened in 2008 and creates a brilliant sense of power and space.
The temporary exhibition entitled Kings and Pawns tells the story of board games through the ages from across the Islamic world.

My blip shows an al fresco game of chess in full flight under the watchful eye of one of the dish-dash attired custodians.

As the sun set we made our way across the road to the souq for an Iranian meal and a valedictory opportunity for our guests to barter for bargains before they fly home to the UK tomorrow afternoon.
