A day at Tissington
My friend Jen and I decided to have a day at Tissington today. We met at Derby bus station and used a zigzag to get to Ashbourne. Had a little wander around the town and then some lunch at a nice little cafe before heading to the start of the Tissington trail. We were told by one of the tourist information people that the journey would take a good hour.... One hour and 45 minutes later we finally arrived, with every muscle aching and our feet singing to us, at the lovely village of Tissington. We visited my favourite candle shop on the planet… On a Wick and a Prayer, to stock up on their Arabian Jasmine candles, bars and oils and then on to the 1940s sweetshop Edwards and Vintage, before settling down to a pot of tea and Herbert's tea rooms. It was a beautiful sunny day, and lovely to soak up the village atmosphere, but we couldn't manage the same route back so we hoped on a bus!
