Standing stone rigg, Great Lonbrough
I took Arth for a much needed walk today and we completed 6 miles. He's a bit sore but not too bad, so the week of rest seems to have worked.
I walked from Goatstones farm over to Great Lonbrough and on towards Stell Green. The land is remarkably dry in most places, quite a contrast to a couple of weeks ago. There are plenty of lambs but the best thing was to hear and see so many skylarks.
The Standing Stone Rigg consists of two parallel rows of stones stretching over the brow of a ridge and near a burial cist. Many stones are recumbent but you can still see the original idea.
It was very windy with the wind from the north east and it looked as though bad weather was on the way. It seemed to blow over.
Mum had a bad night and has been resting in bed all day. Nasty cough, poor thing.
