Ascending?

I must confess
to a fleeting moment
of surprise
when my eyes
flicker open
this morning
to grey light
the dull ache in my side
the echo of pain
in feet and hands.

I feel the familiar
weight of responsibility
fall back on my shoulders.
I must arise,
shift that stone.
No doubt
He is waiting,
a place set at his table, for me,
His right hand man?

An exchange of comments with BernardPoet yesterday about his series of Easter blips and poems got me thinking. The above is the result.

We enjoyed an Easter Sunday lunch with Chris, Kate and Joel. Other than that we stayed inside, away from the cold, grey weather.
