Easter Parade
As it was Easter Sunday, I was cooking for all the family today. They were treated to an Asian menu which consisted of a Thai delectable coconut soup with Mussels, followed by a Malaysian Hainanese chicken and then a Vietnamese kaffir lime brulee.
But the the main attraction of the day seemed to be our Blackbird family who have taken up residence on our windowsill outside our cloakroom. Everytime somebody passed the cloakroom we got a full commentary on what the the female blackbird was doing.
This pair have already had one chick in March, and this is the second clutch which consists of four greenish blue speckled eggs. The female incubates the eggs for around fourteen days.
This feels a bit like BBC Springwatch but in the comfort of our own home. Although it would be interesting having Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham giving the commentary live from our house.
I am a big Beatles fan and I could not resist adding the fabulous song written by Paul McCartney.
"Blackbird"
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird fly Blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
