dead eyed spider

This made an unexpected appearance when I was pulling some papers out from the side of some drawers. Not sure how it met it's demise but it wasn't at my hands. Next job is to catch a live one. I have been told you can put them in the fridge to slow them down enough to have their picture taken. Has anyone tried that? Is it cruel?
