Dumbarton Shore
Amazingly enough it was another glorious day today. Quite the best Easter weather in years. Got up to another great poll in the papers for the Yes campaign in the independence referendum. The ICM poll in today's Scotland on Sunday shows the gap closing even more with Yes at 48% and No at 52% after you exclude the Don't Knows.
Today we headed to Dumbarton to meet up with my two sister-in-laws and their families at my mother-in-laws, but on the way there we stopped at Dumbarton castle. We didn't actually go in to the castle today as we didn't have the time, instead walking along the shore line below it.
The tide was out on the River Clyde and it gave me the chance to get down onto the sand and take some photographs of the sand, the water and these old posts. Although it was sunny and bright and the sky was a sharp azure blue I decided to go with a mono shot. You can just make out the Erskine bridge spanning the Clyde if you look at the picture large.
Dumbarton castle is a fantastic place to visit and far too many people pass it by on the way to Loch Lomond. It has an amazing history and many, many more people should visit it as I'm sure they would really enjoy it.
The castle is looked after by Historic Scotland on behalf of the nation and I always think that it's a shame that more people don't take the opportunity to visit and enjoy what is right on their doorstep here in the west of Scotland.
