Easter Sunday xx

Eva woke up crying at 6am this morning. I went into her and she was red hot, even the palms of her hands felt like radiators. I couldn't get the damn thermometer to work, so that once I gave her the calpol, I could check her temperature was coming down, so not off to the best starts this morning. Will have to get a new one this week. I gave Eva some calpol then brought her into our bed for some milk. She did feel cooler as I put her back into her cot, but I didn't cover her over, and she and I both then slept through then til 9.30am. She was right as rain when she woke.

We came downstairs and the Easter Bunny had been. Eva had her breakfast and then Mike and I gave her 2 of her eggs to look at. She was so excited to be given them and I love the bigger pic on today's pic showing her happy little face. While we ate our sausage and egg sandwiches, I opened the Peppa Pig egg for Eva and broke some of it into small pieces. As the bottom, right picture shows, she was more interested in eating my sausage and egg sandwich than she was her chocolate, that was, until I got the chocolate buttons out and she had about 5 of those too.

I did Eva turkey sandwiches and halved cherry tomatoes for lunch after her sleep, but she didn't want it. I fed her the sandwiches in the end by holding them to her mouth for her to bite bits off, but she didn't eat much. She was drinking plenty of water, so that was ok, but she really wasn't herself this afternoon. Uncle John and Aunty Laura came round with an egg for Eva and Jake then, but Eva was so clingy with me. Mike took her upstairs and did manage to get the thermometer to work, as she did feel very warm again. It was 38.3, so he gave her some more calpol and again it came down. My dad then also came round to see us. By dinner time (I got it ready for 6pm) Eva was obviously feeling loads better, as she ravenously wolfed down her dinner of pulled pork, roast potato, mash, carrots, broccoli and sweetcorn, drizzled in gravy. Washed down with her cup of water and topped off with a yoghurt that I spoon fed to her.

All afternoon Eva has also been signing "milk" with vigour. I gave it to her every time she asked, her little fists were going so desperately. She doesn't normally ask for it really, as throughout the day now, she just tends to have breast milk first and last thing nowadays and she seems fine with that, but today she obviously needed more.

Jake came back from his moms then and had his Easter eggs and then helped Mike bath Eva ready for bed.

Eva's temperature was 36.5 by bedtime (not sure why Mike can get the thermometer to work, but I can't grr). Poor baby was absolutely shattered and was in bed, fast asleep by 8pm xxxxx
