Venison Soup

Winter gave us a taste of things to come today, the wind was howling, causing lots of noise and shaking the house with a chill to match. It's mountain bike festival time here and the Slopestyle event is on today, some top riders pulling tricks for the town centre fans willing to brave the elements. I had agreed to watch it with Gio who you seen attacking me on sundays blip but after a sleep broken by the sound of gales, it seemed better to stay inside with the bowl of venison soup Nomi made for me.

The rug in front of the fireplace here is real deer skin, the soup was made with a bone from this very deer and there's a lot to be eaten in the freezer too. Someone gifted the flat with these things, a hunter who likes to get use out of as much as possible. This will not be to everyones liking, I am very well aware of that but we are making sure an animal was not killed in vain.

If you look closely, you can see the eye holes in the fur from this angle, something that is normally hidden away from comercially available animal skins.
