Advent Calendar

My mum made this Advent calendar for me about 30 years ago. Throughout the year she would collect little gifts which she would then wrap, together with sweets and chocolates, and tie a little parcel to each gold ring. In Germany this is not such an uncommon pratice, but living in Scotland in the 80s when anything other than a chocolate calendar was pretty much unheard of I was the envy of all my schoolmates. This year my husband and I filled the calendar ourselves to share - he gets the odd days and I get the even days.
