The huffing season

There were 2 hedgehogs in the garden, making huffing noises and circling one another, round and round. However, when I went out with cameras, one took off at great speed. The other let me take two pictures with the night-view camera (in infrared), then ran off too, before I could change camera to try the flash gun. The prickles on the back of its head seem to be standing up more than usual - I've not noticed that before, but maybe it's part of the courtship ritual.
